I honestly didn't know if they could top the show in Pittsburgh, but the boys did it last night. And I never thought that indoor Zoo could be topped, but this tour has simply blown my friend and I away.
Elevation is simply an amazing opener . . . energetic, tight and gets the crowd moving and singing from the start. But what makes this show so fantastic is the mix of old and new, the mix of flash and simplicity. The lights are wonderful yet subtle, but things do get crazy at times, such as in The Fly. And I never heard a place so loud as it was during the Bad/Steets duo -- it was simply magic.
Seats were 20 rows up on Edge's side. Couldn't really see the rising back screens from there, but they were still the best seats I've ever had for a U2 show. (By the way, to my friend Jeff, who posted a review here and fulfilled his wish of standing along the heart, WAY TO GO BUDDY!)
Only Bono screw up was he repeated the first verse of Stay . . . but it was no big deal. There were no band intros. Desire with the full band sounded really good. Bono sang the Dance, Dance, Dance line in streets, and several times in Pride he just walked away from the mic and let the crowd sing. Walk On has really come a long way live, as well. Great ender.
The Philly crowd was fabulous. Can't imagine any venue was louder than the First Union Center last night.
Two shows down, two to go.
Have fun U2 fans.
