by Jeff Part II
Sorry. Jeff here again.
Just wanted to make the diehards aware of something new Bono was talking about:
At the end of Bullet, he really went off on a tangent. He was going on and on about guns and bullets. I felt bad for the band because they were playing on and on and on and on. Edge kept changing his riff.
At the end of his little speech, Bono says: "626,000 people will die at the hands of a bullet over the next 20 years. The first one is starting right now for you John."
Not sure who John is. Anyone know?
Right after John he says: "In America"
And the song finally ended.
Take a good listen on the boot. I've never heard him ramble on like that. He didn't even do the "Young American" bit. He just started ranting.
And I totally agree with the other posters about The Fly. Incredible! It was awesome on Zoo, but with the new intro (a great loop!), the powerful images and Edge's solo, man ... what a song. And with Bono leaping into the time warp and the "gotta go" loop, incredible.
By the way, Bono has been switching up what he says during The Fly intro. Usually something different every night (I liked the bit about talking to the giant in Pittsburgh ... I asked the giant, what am I here for?) ... but he said the same things both nights in Philly:
Walk into a sports hall.
The lights come on.
And everything changes.
Yadda, yadda.
The Fly kicks. If that doesn't make you shake your hips, nothing does. That's why I couldn't figure out why practically everyone in our section was sitting down the whole night. Losers.
And I think my favorite new thing now (other than The Fly and Streets) are the wavy lights during Kite. If you're lucky enough to see the show straight on from the back, it looks like the whole arena is in the ocean and waves are crashing all around.
Oh, one last thing:
Did anyone else notice the buffalos at the end of One? The vidi-walls are just blue, but at the very end of One, as the walls are dropping, you see like 1 or 2 buffalos go over the edge. Very Zoo-TV. And very cool.
Thanks
