Greetings U2 Fans!!!
What an awesome show was had at the First Union Center!! I was in Philly for the PopMart Tour show when it came to Franklin Field and this by far blew that show away!!
And a little side note for Jeff, who said he was sitting in section 205 and the entire section was sitting down for the entire show. That was a falsity, as I was also in section 205 and on my feet the entire show as was just about everyone around me.
The show was electric from the very start, from when they came out to start Elevation and got the Sixers chant going, to when they played the awesome version of the Fly with Bono throwing himself against the video screens, this show was just awesome!
Some of the highlights for me were that the band didnt dwell on their present album, much like they did with PopMart. They played the radio singles and a few of the other, better songs on the album, but they mostly stuck with the older U2 that made them a household name. The rendition of All I Want Is You was absolutely amazing and if this wasn't Bono at 100%, he sure could have fooled me!
This was my girlfriend's first U2 concert and she said as we left the arena that this was by far the best concert she has ever seen and said that it was simply awesome. I couldn't agree more. U2 has stripped back to basics and absolutely blew away the rocking, fired up Philadelphia fans. U2 came sweeping through the First Union Center right in the middle of the Center's most electric stretch as far as history is concerned with the Sixers, and they were feeding off the electricity and excitement that the building and its fans were giving off. Simply Amazing!!!
