I've been to about 60 concerts in my life (23 yrs) and have seen many different groups, but after seeing U2 for the 1st time on Friday, all previous concerts pale in comparison. Before Friday I merely liked U2, now I love them - seeing them live made all the difference. It was also my first concert at the FU Center, and I loved being on the floor staring up at all the people in the stands going crazy - what a rush!
I was very impressed by the band's performance - they've got a great relationship which clearly attests to their success. They also seemed to me as more human, more like you and me, than the average rock band. The heart set-up of the stage is a great idea because it gives the band more room and brings them closer to the people like me who didn't wait in line for hours.
The highlight of the show for me was Wild Honey, because it was a surprise and beautifully done. My favorite song from ATYCLB is Kite, so I was very happy to hear that one; before starting the song Bono mentioned how he originally wrote it with his kids in mind, but recently his father passed away and that gave the song a new perspective. At the end of Kite he repeated part of the last verse.
I feel that this concert was my first TRUE rock concert - one truly deserving of the definition - and I will definitely see U2 the next time they come around.
