Another great U2 experience! Barely recovered from the first night in Arnhem, this concert was an instant classic! Having read the other reviews of today, I think just about every 'fact' there is to know about this third night in Holland has been mentioned by now. (Pimm Jal de la parra, please start working on the update of your great 'U2-concert documentary' book right away!) What is left is the belief that there really is a special relationship between U2 and the Dutch fans and that Bono is not just saying that to please us. (Or maybe I just desperately want to believe that). Mr Vox was very talkative tonight. His story about visiting Herman Broods' place was very genuine, as did his speech about the OOr- journalist. They were even more close to the audience this night then they usually are. I learned to appreciate the lightening design and videowall- programming more this time: (because on the first Arnhem date, I missed a few details in all the excitement): the simple colours in 'Gone', the stroboscopic effects in 'until the end of te world' , the black and white in 'New York' and the blue in 'Walk on'. (Bono singing 'hallelujah' moved me so much it got me crying in the end...). The red at the beginning of 'Streets' is obligatory, but even so still works (and lets you shiver every time beyond description!). Thank heavens they played 'the Fly' again! (make this version a future B-side please guys!). I smiled from ear to ear when I left the gelredome at around 23h30.
It was all worth the complete chaos at the parking afterwards.
Next year they can easily fill the 'kuip' stadium several times (with a few Paradiso dates for intimate friends..)
I have got still one concert left to go to fortunately! Oh Boy, am I looking forward to my next 'Elevation' in Antwerp this Sunday!
