I'm so glad that a friend told me about this online, and then I spontaneously decided to go down to GM Place by myself. I never thought I would get a wristband since it was 3:40pm, but lo & behold! still a lot remaining.
And yes, the waiting in the very hot sun was not fun... especially if you are by yourself and cannot get a drink of water or eat something. Fortunately I made friends with the people around me, and for the next 4hrs all we did was chat. How dumb of us not to buy food/drinks still!
Eventually we make our way into the arena, and I was surprised by the stage setup. I have to admit it was pretty neat, especially the extended stage and the beaded curtains for backdrop.
It was super fun the first 2 times of shooting, but I can see the energy in us fading off as we kept running through the song a couple more times. And when we moved to the floor for the floor shots, that was fun! It took quite a long time..but I got to see over everyone's heads by sitting on the gate. I know that the camera wouldn't reach that far back but who cares!? It was a super cool view. And also the fact that Bono was entering right beside me! (which was by the sound system setup). I didn't bother going up to him since I know we were filming, but it was interesting to see him walk through the crowd.
And then the mini concert they did for us was sooo much fun! You can see all of us going crazy while they played "Vertigo", and some of us doing the swaying arm-in-the-air thing during "Sometimes". That song is too good!!
This was definitely one event worth the wait and sacrifice of not eating! I'm psyched to see how the music video will turn out.
Also cool to learn about the tricks of the trade in pretending there were "a lot" of people. It'll be funny if you see the same person but in a different spot all at once. Haha!
