how to begin...
I was at GM place all three nights. I have seen many U2 shows, so to try to compare them is pointless...each show has it's own special magic.
BAD on thurdsay was breathtaking, the guitar solo (thank you edge for 'playing the blues) on 'bullet the blue sky' on ANY night is off the hook. i could go on, song by song, but i won't, cause you probably know already.
FRIDAY night was such a mixed bag of stuff, it was interesting. I was sitting in row 1 of section 105 (about 8 feet from bono (et al) if they were at 9 o'clock on the ellipse). So i saw the people get the heave from the ellipse (sad). And the girl trying to grope bono (sadder). This being said, i would say, under the circumstances, the boys did a fabulous job of putting on a show.
The Spirit was definitely in the room, and the energy was fantastic.
Despite some of the distance that bono kept, he was awesome to us (me, my wife and oldest two daughters). Bono looked at my wife and the girls, waved and made the peace sign many times throughout the night(also sang to my wife, with her, almost challenging her to get up a little more...).
The OVER THE TOP thing that happened was when larry was headed back to his kit in LOPOE and he stopped right in front of my daughters(11 and 9.5 years old), leaned in and gave them the most genuine smile (like an uncle or family smile), distinctly waved to each of the daughters and my wife and i, then he carried on his way.
Within a minute a roadie approached us and gave each of the girls one of the used drumsticks.
WOW. they couldn't (still can't) believe that these things were GIVEN, not asked for.
Needless to say, the girls slept with the drumsticks.

So,the show (s) were awesome, the video shoot was cool, but to see the humanity was nearly divine.
