A night that was so much more than I could have ever hoped for. That basically sums up the concert for me. I have been a U2 fan since the age of 11 and I am now 18. With this concert, being my first live U2 experience, I find it hard to describe exactly how fulfilling it was.
City of Blinding Lights was a stellar choice for an opener. It seemed as if Bono just magically appeared at the top of the ellipse. I really have to commend the stage design and lighting set up for this concert. The layout was amazing. I love the lights that would race around the ellipse and the light curtains. Lets just say, the presentation was amazing.
But back to the music. I think the boys did a wonderful job integrating their newer stuff with their older songs. How cool was it that they played Electric Co? My only concern was Bono seemed to be either having some mic or voice problems. My guess would probably have to be the first, since during Bullet The Blue Sky there was some weird feedback sort of stuff going on.
A definite highlight for me would have to be when Bono asked everyone to take out their cell phones and all the lights went out. I just thought it was so neat. I also loved Adam's strolls around the ellipse. Me being a bass player myself, it was just an honour to be in the presence of my bass idol. In fact, it was an honour to be there period.
The only thing that bothered me was that girl who went onstage with Bono. How embarassing, she didn't show any class at all.
So, despite being sick and having a fever throughout the concert it was still awesome. I will never forget that night, and the emotions that came along with it. I cannot wait for my next opportunity to see U2. Larry, Adam, Edge and Bono, thank you for a wonderful evening; you all were amazing.
