I sat in the next to last row of Giants Stadium, side stage, next to two fellows visiting from Dublin....and the people behind us wanted us to sit down! Unbelievable.
I don't recall the Bodeans opening up, and Little Steven was late which caused the show to start after 10.
Somethings I do remember are: Bono mentioning in the middle of "One Tree Hill" that Giants Stadium ( during the Amnesty tour ) was the last place Greg Carroll, who the song is dedicated to on the album, worked for U2.
Another is someone had tossed the flag of Ireland onstage during Pride. Bono pointed out the green ( everyone cheered) the orange ( some boos ) and the white, saying that white isn't a color and something about we shouldn't be concerned about flags and symbols.
He also remarked about playing a stadium with no video screens, saying U2 wanted to fill the stadium with music instead, and almost apologizing for the size of the venue but that they were trying to "beat our friends the scalpers".
Thousands of people leaving down the ramps from the upper deck of Giant Stadium singing "40" again after the show.
Still the best stadium show I've ever seen, 20 years later.
