I've been a U2 fan for almost 20 years but this was not only my first U2 show, it was the first concert I've ever been too. And I feel like I couldn't have picked a better night. It was unbelievable!
I was a little nervous as I'm not a big fan of the new album. But thankfully they had a nice mix of new material and their older classics to start the show off. Highlights for me were Until the End of the World, City of Blinding Lights and Ultraviolet. I do like "I'll Go Crazy...." from the new album but honestly I like the studio master much better than the remix they've been playing on tour.
The rest of their set sounded great. Looking at the songs they played on night #1 versus night #2, for me I clearly lucked out and chose the correct night. I would have liked it had they played Bad or Pride (like they did earlier in the tour). But by the end of the show, I was having such a good time I forgot about them.
Maybe it's because I was only 20 feet from the front of the ramp in the GA area. But even being surrounded by 84,000 other fans, the show U2 put on felt very intimate. And that's what makes them an unbelievable band to see live. I can't wait to see them again when they return!
