Sorry for the late post. It gave me time to digest the experience. Here is my two cents - I sat in Section 129 and enjoyed the show. I found the sound to be great and the setlist was mostly enjoyable. The stage was pretty cool and a little distracting, but good spectacle overall.
You sensed a "but" coming and here it is. Was Bono a little less lively and engaging than one would expect at a Boston show? Yes. Was the setlist a vanilla 360 Tour setlist without any of the little extras we fans love to see? Yes. Were my friends in the 300 sections angry as hell at the terrible echoes up there and ready to demand a refund? Yes.
Even during the disappointing Popmart show I saw in Foxboro back in 97, the band popped out on stage after the show was supposedly over to play the Beatles song Rain as a light rain fell at the end of the show. It gave us all a little something extra to say "Hey, we're still the same band that promised to shake the dust off the rafters in the old Boston Garden in 87" and we walked out of there with smiles on our faces. That's what U2 didn't deliver on 9/20/09 and there are some fans out there who won't forgive that. I still thought it was a good show.
