I'm a long time U2 fan, first show in June of "83 on the War tour in Tulsa, OK. I was 15. I've seen about a dozen or so shows over the decades since including 2 weeks prior to this show in Dallas, TX. I already had my Dallas tickets when it was announced U2 would be at Bonnaroo. My children have been going to Bonnaroo for the past few years and always had a great time, so I was more than willing to tag along for the day with them to see my favorite band. Thankfully, they knew all about the "pit line" that would form early in the day for each of the bands on the main stage. We walked up about 5pm for the 11pm show, expecting the pit line to be already full and we would try to get a spot as close as possible. To our suprise, the pit line was only about 100 deep so we got in and waited. We ended up about 4 people deep to the small stage out front. The show was very similar to the Dallas JT30 show, but also quite different. The smaller stage did not have any drums or keyboards on it, so Larry never got to come out. The large video screen was divided into 3 sections, but the images and videos were still crystal clear and just as captivating. The crowd was diverse, to say the least, but U2 won them all over with their energy, passion and of course the songs. The band seemed genuinely suprised and delighted with their reception. Overall, probably the best concert I have been to.
