I wanted to take my 14 year old to his first big rock concert and felt U2 were an ideal opportunity. I'd seen them at Wembley in 1993 and have all their albums, plus a few videos so I am a fan.
Overall, loved the show, money well spent, great atmosphere, pity the sound system went awol at one point. The set list was great, a mixture of the old and new. The new stuff sounds fresher live and songs such as Elevation, Beautiful Day and Vertigo are cracking in a stadium setting. It was nice to see the older stuff rejigged and the enchore was really good, quite innovative.
Little disappointed in the stage set. I can see what the band are trying to do, but they struggled to give equal attention to all four corners of the stadium. We were at the back and it seemed that they focused a lot of their showmanship to the people standing and the other three quarters of the seating areas.
But why complain about a great show. Bono's voice has held up well and all the members of the band show continue to show commitment to giving the audience 100%. Nice touches re the issues in Burma and the 'One' campaign, which sparked interest with my son.
Would go again, but would love to hear them play Mysterious Ways again.
