Having looked forward to this gig for weeks we set out last night anticipating a fantastic night - great weather - warm, no rain - Scotland in June, who’d have thought!! Also, having had a quick look at the line up in other concerts to say we were enthusiastic about what might be on offer - as mega U2 fans - was an understatement. BUT, we left so disappointed all because of the crap sound quality. We hear not a word Bono actually said and a vast number of the lyrics were totally lost too. During New Year’s Day our section of the crowd could only lip read the timing of what was being sung - and that wasn’t correct! Sound was so bad it took a while to recognise what was being played when the band started Wild Horses - even though this is a particular personal favourite. Having paid £££££ for tickets we feel just a tad cheated, especially as friends in another area of the stadium seem to have heard a totally different concert. We thought we had got into a good position - mid to back centre of the standing area - sadly got that totally wrong! Loved the last Vertigo however - at that point we were keen to make the best of a bad evening. Please sound guys sort this out - we’re all paying the same vastly inflated ticket prices.
It looked great - Bono was charismatic as usual and the background lighting and effects excellent - needed to hear it though!
Sadly can’t afford to repeat the experience in a different standing position. Would have loved to try again in Cardiff, Vienna or Amsterdam with The Killers as support as well - perfect evening’s entertainment - if the sound’s right!!
