Before i review the gig here is my u2 live cv.have seen EVERY glasgow gig since nov 82 (11 shows over 6 tours) EVERY scottish gig since 87 and also seen them at wembley 97 nyork 01 and dublin 97+01 so i have plenty to compare this to! band came on later than i thought about 845 what was to follow was over 2 hours of top notch live u2 i get the feeling that for the first in there careers u2 have actually nailed stadium rock as to how it should and can be done.josh tree was good but they didnt have enough songs for over 2 hours.zoo tv too much going on too many screens too many slogans too much!!! pop mart i think they just lost the plot a bit (lemons and big arches).elevation outdoors close but i think a bit slow at the end lost its way a bit.dont get me wrong enjoyed every one of these tours.last night WAS different.more mature more comfortable more of a back catalogue.when i go to a u2 concert i want to hear the new songs its easy to plathe old hits everybody knows the words its a great sing a long and thats why the majority of people go.but for me its to hear the new songs, can they still cut it live with the new stuff?YES city of blinding lights miracle drug and ESP love and or else was worth the admission alone.stage was perfect, not too big not too small.light show perfect.setlist was perfect bit of everything to keep everybody happy.this band live is at its peak right now.only slane1 was better than this going to vienna to see them again cant wait!take it from somebody who knows,NOW is the time to see this band live. ps what a buzz to hear ROCK THE CASBAH by THE CLASH on the pa just before u2 came out!now there was a live rock band!!!
