My wife and I got to Hampden at lunchtime, just in time to hear the the end of rehearsals, with City of Blinding Lights thundering out. There`s something good about queuing at a U2 gig - other fans are so welcoming, and we were soon chatting to a crew from Cumbernauld, and 4 window cleaners from Wolverhampton! We managed to get to the front right of the inner ellipse, 2 from the front ( Edge Country !). We thought the sound mix for the first warm up act was poor, but Interpol were excellent. The adrenalin flowed as U2 arrived, and the place erupted. Highlights for us were Whose Gonna Ride Your White horses, which we have never heard live before followed immediately by a resounding version of City Of Blinding Lights - the backdrop lit up superbly.
The playing of Vertigo towards the beginning and at the end worked for us, leaving the crowd on a high as they left. As the crowd began to disperse, I managed to attract the attention of Dallas Schoo, and asked for a pick - he duly obliged - icing on the cake !!
