My first indoors U2 concert (the first show i saw was at RFK in DC when Bono slipped and hurt his shoulder, you can see him in a sling on Rattle and Hum from this fall)
I was 15. It was transcendental, a pretty deep experience for me and my friends. I used to have an old audio tape bootleg of the show, I loved listening to the crowd singing along to Sunday Bloody Sunday and 40, Pride and Running to Stand Still.
And only now, having seen them on every tour and most recently as a 34 year old mom, can I truly appreciate how "lucky" I was to see the "Dalton Brothers" sing Lucille and to hear Larry step up to the microphone for Tequilla Sunrise.
If I could get those feelings of unity and joy from going to church, I'd go 3 times a week. Who am I kidding I'd go every day.
Sure wish I still had that tape.
