Not only was this the first U2 concert I attended, but this was the first concert I attended. I find myself getting chills at the thought of this show despite the fact that this show took place 17 years ago. From the stadium going into darkness as the first bars of "where the streets have no name" echoed in the dark to Larry on stage singing "Tequilla Sunrise" to the thunderous flashing brilliant "Bullet the Blue Sky" to Bono draped over an amp sighing us the disturbing lullaby "running to stand still" to the crowd chanting the lyrics to "40" even after the lights of the Colieseum were turned on, even as we walked slowly out of the venue in solemn ecstasy and peace chanting in unison not wanting the night the feeling to end, this remains one of the most perfect shows, one of the most perfect nights that is indelibly etched in my memory and my veins. I was eleven years old.
