Firstly, to the band, WELCOME BACK TO NEW ENGLAND. Second, thanks for releasing what seems like hundreds of tickets at the box office prior and up to show time. The scalpers literally were eating their excessive supply of tickets, lots of lucky ticketless fans got into the show for less than face value. Elevation indeed! I had my bosses 12 year old daughter Margaret on my shoulders for a good deal of the show, and the ache today is soothed only by the intense memory of just how good the boys were last night. The sound can be somewhat less than stellar in the echoey vastness of the civic center but not last night. The mix was loud, clear and powerful, and Bono's voice was indeed "birdlike", you'd never know he was under the weather and having trouble singing. The re-inclusion of In a little while, was wonderful. The Edge was dead on in his delivery all evening, and is just amazing to watch. It seems like the band is well primed for their "sort of homecoming" the next few evenings in Boston. Cant wait.
