Bono and The Edge were the top of the Bill and performed last after 6 other acts - Stevie Wonder, Kenny Chesney, K'naan, Juanez, Usher and Lady Gaga. Bono did a cameo during K'naan's performance and - forgive me Bono for telling this - but in a classic Bono moment he exited the stage but walked into a dead-end corner visible to half of the audience. Bono stood there for a few seconds and then did an exaggerated tiptoe to safety - hilarious. The Bono and Edge set was very intimate, I felt like I had just been over to Bono's living room even though I was 70 meters from the stage. Bono chit-chatted before and after every song, walked over to Bill Clinton and shook hands and threw out a few great lines such as "being in a rock band is like living on an oil rig". The setlist was atypical U2 and Bono had thoughtfully chosen songs that reflected the nature of the event - the 10 year anniversary of the Clinton Foundation and Prez Clinton's 65th birthday. Bono's voice was amazingly clear and he sang the best Miss Sarajevo I can remember. In a very cool tribute to Stevie Wonder, Bono sang Happy birthday to Bill Clinton working in the rhythm and cadence of Happy Birthday from "Hotter than July". Unfortunately the purity of the set was somewhat lost on the majority but for real U2 fans it was a delicious treat.
