An absolute gem . Those of you reading this
as you get ready for Albany, Hartford or
Boston be forewarned , as good as you think
that the show you are going to attend is going to be ,I've got news for ya .. It will exceed your expectations .
Saw the band in Toronto May 25 and really got
blown away . Went to Buffalo show hoping it
would be half as good as I wondered about whether the band could get psyched up about a
place they had not played in 14 years .No worries on passion , last night they were better than a week ago . Some observations:
Any concerns about Bonos voice are not warranted . Trouble in Montreal must have been short lived . Brilliant on With or Without you , One and In a Little While .
There seems to be such passion on this tour and the desire to shorten the distance with the fans that the big Stadium shows created. Bono pulled several fans on stage and spent the night making sure those in front and those in back felt welcome . Best front Man in the biz , not sure anyone else comes within 100 miles .
On future tours people are going to complain if the band fails to perform "Kite". It is fast becoming their anthem of the 2000's .
My personal highlights from this show were
Sunday Bloody Sunday (as always!), the aforementioned "Kite" and the great pleasure of watching the band stroll up onto the stage while the first strains of Elevation are played . Its not quite as powerful as the "Streets " entrance from the Joshua Tree but its close . Real cool with the lights on.
Lastly a word or two about the prices .If you are sitting there and thinking "man this better be good " , don't worry it is going to be far better than you can imagine it could be . I have seen 2 shows in the last week and would love the opportunity to shell out for more in the fall . It is not a high tech deal like Zoo Tv or PopMart but the band will remind you very powerfully of why you fell in love with them and their music in the first place .
For those of you still waiting for your turn,as great as your anticipation is , the
band will exceed those expectations 10 times over . Enjoy .
In a Little While
