Warm summer night...South Philly...17 year old senior in high school...seeing the greatest band in the world with your best friends...awesome. I remember being stuck in traffic on the double decker I-95 bridge over the Schuylkill River (near the old Navy yard)...it seemed like we were on that bridge for hours. I think the Phillies had a game that night, and of course, with the beautiful weather, you had people trying to get to the Shore. It was insane. We had some beverages...found some souvenirs (I still have my tour poster and stub) and headed into the Stadium. JFK was where they had Live Aid and was across the street from The Vet (Phillies). Once we got in we decided to make our way onto the field...smart move, as we ended up about 100 feet from the stage. U2 hit the stage with Streets...the white backdrop turned red...keyboard intro...I am getting chills as I write this...Prior to Trip...Bono brought a fan on stage and he and the Edge taught him some chords to play for the song as Bono had hurt his arm (slipped in D.C. I believe). Then Bono asked if anyone else can play his guitar, and said something like, "I think Bruce Springsteen can play my guitar..." and the Boss came on stage and played "Stand By Me." I'll never forget how the crowd sang "40" well after the band left the stage...I was singing "How Long" in the parking lot! It was one of the greatest nights of my life (behind my wedding, and kids being born of course!)
