Obviously if you ran into me, you ran into the other Brian who posted a very good review of this show so check that out as well!
I first have to say that this show was amazing, but I unfortunately I think some things happened today that caused the set list to be changed. First of all they had the drum under the heart so they could play acoustic as a band. The only thing we could think of was that it was because of the webcast. And Bono and Edge stayed at the front of the stage a lot more than usual. I also think this was because they were on the web, or either that when he was the tip it felt like he was at the back of the arena.
But I'm glad they redid the order of the show because that really boosted my level of curiousity. I'm not sure I liked Elevation as the encore opener cus it was so strong as the opening song on the last leg. I really expect some major differences in the upcoming shows. But today had to be one of the highlights of the tour. Smallest venue, new songs, NYPD on stage during Walk On, and the crowd was just as loud as one in a 20,000 seat arena. I am very proud to be apart of that crowd.
My personal favorites of the show were: Before U2 came on stage, Dallas did his usual checks and the first time he walked around the stage I yelled really loud to him and applauded for him. He told us "Thank you very much." The second time he came out and gave me The Edge's guitar pic and I was floored. I think just because he picked me inparticular, so i obivously thanked him a bunch. All i wanted was just something besides the usual shirt or ticket stub from one of these U2 shows and I'm so happy I got one. THANKS DALLAS!!! Another highlight was What's Going On. Boy that was beautifully done and can't get better than that performance. Bad-Streets will always be the best combination ever. And what really did it for me was the extra verse for With or Without You. I've been dying to hear that live because it's so strong and hits me so hard. I won't ever forget that point of the show.
Well, thanks to everyone we met in line and I know we probably shouldve joined you in the front row, but I know you guys had an awesome night as did we. I doubt U2 will be coming around again any time soon for us Brians, so see all of you again in about 2-3 years or so (and I hope it's much earlier than that)! Wearing number 55, BYEBYE!!!
