This was the second show that I was lucky enough to see on this tour. I went to the Milwaukee show on May 9, this was a totally different experience. On a personal level, when I saw the band in May, I was in the heart, I got to meet Larry and Bono so I don't know that anything will ever match up to that amazing day...BUT...this concert was still mindblowing.
I had a really great seat and got to catch a lot of stuff that you don't notice when you're in the heart. I thought that Pride was really the best live version I've heard them do yet of that song (I also saw them during the Popmart tour, which by the way, I'm tired of hearing the media trash, I thought it rocked). I was totally taken aback by When I Look At The World. I was hoping to God that by some stroke of luck they would play it. I was also really surprised by the addition of Angel of Harlem, what a great live song!
I have to admit that I really really missed The Fly and Mysterious Ways, two songs that they really changed up and that added a certain dimension to the first leg. I also am incredibly partial to the version of Gone that they had been playing as that it still one of my favorites. The substitution of Still Haven't Found was amazing though and it's always good to hear that song. The final encore was incredibly touching, and to be completely honest, choked me up.
Overall, I thought Bono's voice sounded absolutely fantastic, he was right on the money all night, the entire band was (as always) outstanding musically. I thought the crowd was really into it the whole night and I personally didn't notice that it wasn't sold out. It was a great show by the biggest and best band in the world. Every time I see these guys I'm reminded of how much their music means to me, how much they as a band mean to me. I had a lot of friends (first time U2 concert goers) go to the show and they absolutely loved it. Most of them aren't huge fans but still came out saying that it was the best rock show they'd ever seen.
Anyway, I should quit rambling, loved the show, loved the music, don't know if there's much more to say other than I can't wait for their next album to be released and the next tour to come around....hopefully sooner rather than later boys!
