This was a thrilling night in Seattle. My wife had
somehow gotten a hold of fifth row seats right by The Edge, with the outrageous demand for tickets,
we felt spoiled rotten. The band walked out right
in front of us for Love and Peace or Else, the crowd was very charged up. Vertigo and Elevation
sounded very good and only pumped up the audience
into more of a frenzy.
I narrowly missed the War Tour back in 1983, and
have always enjoyed live recordings I have from
the Boston Orpheum (King Biscuit) and Red Rocks
Ampitheater. So to hear U2 play Cry/The Electric Co., as well as An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart was simply incredible. Edge's guitar was just as emotionally powerful, and daunting as it was when
these songs were staples in the set in the early
eighties. Thanks guys for bringing those back!!!
Bono had a lot of energy, with a heartfelt call for science when introducing Miracle Drug.
You can tell when the band are enjoying themselves, I thought Beautiful Day, New Year's Day and One were especially well played. Pride and "Streets" really drew the audience in. I must have seen U2 seventeen times or so since The Unforgettable Fire tour in Worcester, MA, and this was right near the top. For anybody in doubt, they still have it, don't miss the Vertigo Tour if you can help it.
