I don't have enough superlatives to describe last nights show - amazing, brilliant, fantabulous!
Kings of Leon were ok - I appreciated their opening with the catchy Molly's Chambers. Their last song, though, was a pure delight - the lead singer introduced their friend, who was going to sing with them - Eddie Vedder! Talk about a buzz - I have no idea what the song was, but it was great - and Eddie had about 3 tambourines...
I have to agree with the other reviews - U2 was great, from start to finish. COB was a fantastic way to start - the light screens were beautiful. Then Beautiful Day, then Vertigo (Hola!), Elevation (which was different and better than in the Elevation tour, IMHO) - then Gloria. Oh my - I was hoping to hear Gloria and it rocked. I had even practiced the Latin part.
I won't bore everyone with my song-by-song review (they were all wonderful). I was up in the rafters, but close to the front - section 215. The sound was a bit muddy sometimes - hard to hear Bono - Adam hit some bass notes that were painfully loud. But all in all, the sound was better than I expected. The light curtains lose a bit of their effect from the side - but they're beautiful, as is the lighted stage. The crowd was great - on their feet throughout the show - only taking breaks during some of the slower songs.
I was glad to hear Bad and Original of the Species.
I have to say, hearing Vertigo at the end was a surprise - did they think they hadn't done it with enough punch the first time?!? It was great - and I was hoping they'd do 40 also, but I'm just greedy...Wish I could go to more shows - can't get enough.
