Hi. I just got home from the U2 concert at the Garden. OMG, I've never seen anyone unite the Garden like that before -- and I've seen 'em all. Every person was standing and there were moments that transcended rock and roll and became a theatrical event. There were numbers that were absolutely riveting. Bono dragged three separate people onto the stage with him -- one guy who freaked out, one hot black chick who did a pretty awesome jiggle, and a blonde chick who looked like she wanted to die. He paraded around with at least two flags, wore a bandana thrown from the audience, and made me feel that he loved New York, the Garden, the U.S., the planet... and me. Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, and Nathasha Richardson schmoozed about ten rows in front of me. Bono also gave a shout-out to Christy T. and Naomi Cambell. The show had brilliant touches, and I did not feel it was dated or nostalgic at all. I have never seen them before. I would describe myself as a fan, albeit a casual fan, and I felt there were too many mellow numbers toward the end. Although "Sunday Bloody Sunday" rocked my world. The Edge is amazing. The performance peaked in the middle, I thought -- the encores dragged on a bit for my taste. It seemed long. The crowd went completely berserkoid though. A beautiful night, all in all. Really exceptional.
