I've had the pleasure of seeing U2 a number of times over the past several years, but I must say that this was easily one of the best performances I've ever seen from the band. I caught them the first time 'round in New York, and before that, one of the Jersey shows. I was hoping that they would bring it in New York last time, and while they didn't depart too far from their usual set-list during the first leg, and the show was awesome, I still was hoping for some rarities. Well, my hope was fulfilled this time! The encores here were ridiculous! I mean, "The First Time" acoustic, "Stuck in a Moment" acoustic, "Fast Cars", and "Crumbs", and the "WOWU" closer...c'mon already!! AMAZING! At that rate, I figured they would be throwing in a little "One Tree Hill" or "Acrobat" or another rarity! Perhaps later in the tour?!
All in all, an absolutely amazing show. Bono's voice was very strong. There was on particular time when the crowd was going nuts, and Bono states, "wow, that's crazy"...clearly, he felt it too that night. Edge, Adam and Larry all sounded excellent. Loved "Electric Co." as Edge always seems to enjoy rocking out to that song. And, Bono brought up 3 fans during different parts of the show. They know how to connect. Ahhhh, I could go on and on, but I'll stop soon.
I'm seeing them on Tuesday, and I expect they'll bring it, again, as they always do! Also, a quick "happy birthday" shout out to my bro Chris, who I took to the show for his birthday. He was lovin' it! He was the one who got me into U2 back in the late 90's, and I haven't been the same since!
U2 rock, plain and simple.
