10/11/05 MSG NY, NY
The first time I saw these lads, I was still in High School in June 1983. They played The Pier in NYC. The Alarm opened. We were all so young. The energy was so high you thought it couldn't get higher, yet here they are 22 years later and never better. I've seen them over the years, stadiums and arenas. This MSG show was hands down, the concert of the year. U2 never takes their audience for granted. They perform like they are final contestants in the greatest band on earth ever contest. Someone should tell them they already won. Bono was in great voice. Larry, Adam, The Edge, tight, intense, as usual, amazing. The sound, perfect, the stage design, simple cool and innovative. The set, a satisfying mix of everything you love about U2. U2 sounds like they love NY as much as NY loves them.
