I am probably one of the biggest U2 fans out there. Having seen them in NY many times, Philly, Dublin I thought last June in the Garden was a great show and I think that it was a time that they peaked on that leg. Last night the arena was ready to U2. With U2 fans being so into the band once we all heard All you need is love the crowd got really into it. I am sure there were a few people that were into the song but everyone else there knew that we were two songs away from Elevation. Opening songs were great. Elevation is the perfect song to get them going. New Year's Day was great and the crowd started out singing the band (what's new with this). Sunday Bloody Sunday was great with the American flag and also I think that Bono did a nice thing mentioning the Disarming of the IRA. It's great that the song was used for different meanings over the last few years (Bosnia, NY for Sept 11th) but also it feels so nice that the band wrote this song that hopefully one day things would get better and it looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Stuck in a moment was great and my favorite song Kite was fantastic. I wish I could tell you what the crowd were like for that but to be honest I was singing so loudly I couldn't hear them. I never heard Angel of Harlem live before but what a great song to do live. Again Bono putting the mic down and the crowd continuing to sing along. Pride was out of this world with everyone singing the famous "ohhhhhhhh uhhhh uhhhh uhhhh" in the middle for about a minute. That was the first time I saw the band do it that was and I think they didn't know they were going to do it. Again this band is so great they can put a song out there and the crowd can take it modify it and both band and fans are in sync. I think that everyone had a special meaning for NY and you could tell that the crowd really appreciated it. I had mixed feelings about the names during one. It was a really nice tribute for those people. Some people around me started to break down. Maybe it's a bit too early to be doing that, I don't know.
Everyone there felt that Bono had real close feelings about this city. You could tell that recent events effected him and gave out the message that we are going to get through this and no one can stop us. I know they come into criticism for playing the same set list again and again but you know what if I could go every night for 20 shows I will listen to the same songs and have a ball. Only bad think last night was that the bass was a tad too much, left out With or without you and All I want is you (maybe that's me being selfish). I also thought that the setlist was one or two songs short and may have seemed a little rushed.
