"Lift the roof off" as Bono has been quoted saying before diving, ripping, careening head first, eyes closed into Gloria! Although Gloria was not part of their set last night, that is exactly what the audience did. Bono could have easily handed the microphone to the united one soul, one heart, one voice of last night's audience. I can say that I am one of the blessed who witnessed in 1980 during their U.S. college tours,U2 blow into our consciouness and burn a feeling so deep, so liberating and yet we were never able to free ourselves from their hold. But who wants to??! Those were the days when cheap folding chairs close to the stage were pushed aside by us, allowing to create the human net for Bono, drenced with perspiration, to free fall into our arms trusting we would safely returm him. When he would climb to the highest point of the gym scaffolding while waving a white flag.
I'm not one to do a postmortum and breakdown of every song sung at a concert, so I won't. How boring anyway to hear the good, bad and the ugly of what song was or was not played! U2 has so much great wax (it was once wax) that every song is a gem. Yet, TWENTY ONE years later I was as moved by their and our performance as an audience. YES, our performance, that it brought me to tears! That is what and has always been what the U2 experience has been mostly about. Bono and the bands complete understanding that once their music is out there in the ethos it belongs to everyone! It is U2's GIFT to the world we revolve on. How do they manage to stay so honest, vulnerable and contemporary in such cynical times? Answer that and you have answered what I consider unlocks the key to the who, what and why of U2. Thank you, again and again and again to one of the seven wonders of our world, U2.

Peace from an honest to goodness "Party Girl" -- Jackie
