EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG
Anybody who read my review of the June 14 show should throw it out the window (sorry Raw). I ended up in the first row last night (hanging over the railing) of section 119, directly (I mean directly) to Edge's right.
I was defenseless from the outset. Everything I said about them being too old to play "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and how predictably boring "Streets" had become...forget it. I was a juniour high student watching LIVE at Red Rocks all over again. I loved every second of it, unapologetically.
I'm not about to come home and listen to WAR, or take a look at the Giants Stadium Amnesty show pictures from June 1986, but those two hours last night reminded me why U2 electrified me so much as an adoloescent.
"The Fly" and "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" were the clear highlights, and "All I Want I You" gets an honorable mention for the way it was played and delivered.
Again, these are all personal reflections and I could TOTALLY understand why someone else wouldn't feel the same way. There were many irks and technical errors last night that I will overlook in my after-glow. But, hey, just let me have my fun. I've never sat this close at a U2 gig (my eigth U2 show) before and I had the time of my life.
Rock n' roll...stop the Metro !!
Big hug and hello to Jess!!
