After attending a great first night show from the fifth row at excellent seats at what was a fantastic performance from the band, I was quite psyched up about seeing the boys from the floor.
We got in line at about 1:30 PM and where 339 and 340 in line. At bout 4 PM everyone in line stood up for some reason (probably the first couple of people did and everyone followed). The doors duely opened at 6 PM and I took my place slightly to the left of the tip one person behind the rail.
PJ Harvey sounded and looked much better up close and also seemed more cheerful.
The setlist is written already so I'm not going to repeat it. I was very happy to hear Stay, All I Want is You, and the Fly.
However, when a fan managed to make it onstage for Bullet, we where all quite surprised, Bono handled it pretty well-wanting to keep the show alive and all, however the last part of the song where there is usually a speech-like solo was much shorter-probably for security reasons.
It seemed like Bono spent more time tonihgt at the tip than last night so that was great for the people next to us which got to touch him during the 4-5 times he ventured in to the audience.
And here I will post my only complaint-this goes out to the two girls standing in front of me at the rail. I understand that you were waiting since 7 AM and arrived over 250 people ahead of me, however you where the only two people at the rail not to raise your arms to get Bono's attention! How is the guy going to dive in our part of the crowd when your hands are down? Apart from the seeming lack of enthusiasm it is not very safe to fall into a crowd where he is not sure that he will be held up!
Anyhow, I enjoyed these two shows immensely more than I did the Charlotte show and I'm sure the band did too. I read that Bono had throat problems in Philly and I commend U2 on putting on two great performances in such a packed tour schedule.
I hope to see them again on this tour!
-Simon
