This review's a little different; it's from the POV of a first-time U2 concert attendee!! For years now, the group has been the last act left unseen on a personal "wish list" of concerts. I've seen Springsteen 10 times (including Vote for Change), the Stones, McCartney, and a number of concerts at MCI Center, but I have never seen a crowd pulled unanimously together, in one direction, as I did last night. It was a unique experience, to say the least.
I had been following the setlists on the U2.com site (sorry, U2tours!) all year, so I started to expect certain songs in a certain order. Needless to say, I was surprised at some of the choices, and very happy. (My friends, who had flown in from Albuquerque for the show, were VERY happy. They're U2 veterans.) Song highlights for me were Pride (my all-time favorite), Walk On, Streets, and All Because of You. I even liked Out of Control, which I had never heard before. It was a wonderful introduction to the live spirit of the band; they had 20,000 people on their feet for pretty much the whole show, and I can't even say that about Bruce! Look forward to future shows...
