This was my first Vertigo concert, but I've been to other U2 concerts.
There is still magic when the guys come on stage. I still cannot figure out how Bono ended up at the tip of the stage. We were 9 rows up and never noticed him coming onto the stage.
Couldn't get into Damian Marley. The bass was so loud I could feel my throat vibrate. Not a great opening act for U2, IMHO. I wish I'd gotten there later.
The opening was not quite as electrifying as the Elevation Tour. Now that was magic!
They played a lot from the new CD and some oldies. Others have posted the set list so I won't repeat. Of course, we all have our favorites that were left off the list. They simply can't play them all!
The political diatribe bothered me at first, but then I thought about how Bono is using his celebrity to promote causes. Most celebrities couldn't care less about those less fortunate than us. He is very passionate and I think I understood and listened more to the rhetoric after that.
I did not bring my camera because I thought for sure they'd really search us. The last concert we went to, they had metal detectors and ran the metal detector wand over my husband (not at MCI). Now I wish I'd brought it. So many people had cameras and camera phones. I missed so many awesome photo ops!
The band not only entertained me, but touched me. When Bono sang "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own", it brought tears to my eyes.
The show was memorable and I'd love to see them again and again.
