Thanks to the couple who brought scrabble! and thanks to the other couple who let me drink their water (the girl looked just like someone I know)!
Please, if you have pictures or mp3's, post!!!!
It was a great show. The crowd was pretty stiff through PJ harvey's setlist. Her bassist was drinking beer during the songs.
After intermission, U2 kind of ran unto the stage and started 'elevation' with the lights still on.
The crowd was still a little stiff, but almost everyone was dancing by the time 'Beautiful Day' played! (I think the lights were off by then, maybe that's why.)
Strobe lights were flicking really fast during the end solo of 'Until the End of the world!' It looked really cool, Bono was doing the bull horns to the Edge.
New Years day rocked! It got much of it's power back! Much better than popmart, possibly as good as the original.
'The end of Stuck in the Moment' was perfect, kind of sad. No mistakes, Bono's voice was in very good shape.
'Gone' sounded really good, better than in popmart.
'Kite' was also great, better than the album version. A lot of people thought this was the best concert song.
'New York' was awesome! I don't know why anyone hates this song! Played good live.
'I will follow' was more hard rocking than I ever heard it. It seemed even to have a faster tempo than elevation. Bono holds up his hand to calm the crowd down when he sings "Your eyes are like a circle...etc"
'Sunday Blood Sunday'-- when it got to the part just after the solo, you know the part where edge kind of machine-guns his guitar, Bono asked an audience member to pass down the Irish flag. It was HUGE. Then he drapes it half over his shoulders and carries it across the stage. He says something like "you know there was a time when I couldn't hold this flag so high.." It was very emotional to watch him slowly walk across the stage with the flag. Edge plays the machine-gun riff the whole time.
'Sweetest Thing' -- this played very well. I don't like the song that much, but the live version sounded VERY good. I liked it a lot!!! Bono played the piano.
'In a little while' -- Awesome! Congrats to the young girl who got to dance with Bono!
'Angel of Harlem and Stay' -- great! edge and bono duets...can't think of what else to say
'Bad' -- at the end, he sings 'All I want is Yoooou, all I want is youuuu' and tells the crowd to sing the 'youuu' part.
'Streets' -- the massive screens rise from below the stage! images flashing all over the screens, Bono RUNS around the heart as fast as he can!
Mysterious ways -- screens go back down, Bono lays on one of the screens, and it rises, with a video of a belly dancer. He is on the top of the screen for the whole song. It was probably too far for him to jump down anyway.
The fly -- hard rocking
Bullet the blue -- after the guitar solo, Bono picks up a mini spotlight, uses his left hand to cover his eyes, and walks blindly down the hearts runway. "Man's face red as a rose on a thornbush..etc" Then he opens his eyes, and points the mini spotlight as the ceiling. He turns on the spotlight and yells "One hundred!!!," and the crowd goes wild. Turns off the light, and then up again with "Two hundred!" and "Three hundred!"
"With or Without you" was sweet. There were constellations projected onto the ceiling -- kind of like a Planetarium
"Pride" hard rocking!
Band leaves briefly. Bono was sweating a lot, and returns to stage without his jacket.
"One," was soo sad!! Sounded great.
"Walk On," was the best ever. At the end of the song, Bono sings "Hooome it's where the hurt is, you know it aches, and your heart it breaks, you can only take so much..." Drums and guitar get quiet. Just the melody plays, which is extended because Bono walks over to take soap bubbles from a fan. "All that you fashion
