Wow - how lucky am I? My first U2 concert and from what I've heard from others in attendance, it was one for the ages. So not only was I overwhelmed by the simple fact of finally seeing them in person, it was an amazing show to boot - almost too much to take in at once! It was definitely the most amazing night I can remember experiencing. The thing that surprised me most was how good they sounded - most bands sound completely different live (worse) than on CD's where computers can do a lot of the work. Bono himself came back on stage at the end, impromptu, and said something to the effect of "thanks for an amazing, amanzing night." They even blew themselves away! Our seats were in the front, left-hand corner of the heart (waited in line outside from 11:00 to 6:00). Like I said, almost too much emotion to control with all 4 members walking right past me on the catwalk. And get this, during PJ Harvey's set I looked behind me and found Adam Clayton standing right behind me checking out PJ!!!! I shook his hand because I didn't know what else to do. I later shook Paul McGuiness' hand too - difinitely picked the hot spot to watch the show! Highlights: house lights going out during Elevation, Bullet the Blue Sky, Kite, Sunday Bloody Sunday (Bono got emotional with a huge Irish flag), and especially Streets (is there a better song live in the history of music?). Anyway, I will never forget it and hope DC will be just as good.
