This was my first time ever to see the band U2. I originaly from Nigeria, here studying anthroplogy at the University of Pittsburgh.
I had heard of this band by friend from Egypt. he grew up long tim ein America and grew and loved the band U2 from the early days. He always made me mix tapes, and then CDs, and then DVDs of all of their music - as i was forbidden by my father to buy rock music.
Tonight's show was magical. From the first notes of Electric Co. ( a favorite of myself) to the opera of Miss Sarajevo to the great lad in Party Girl to the wonderful closing number.
Bullet rocked the entire arena like I have never seen before - because I have never been in an arena before! The drum thing Bono did was superb and beautiful - evoking the religious undertones of the world today. He made me weep fo rjoy, sadness, and rebellion.
Streets, Pride, and One grew a fruitful tree of hope in the shadow of death (Sunday, Bullet, Sarajevo, Love/Peace). It was amazing, I tell you.
I love thi sband so much. They mean so much to me. As one would have a favorite book to change their lives - I have a favorite band to change mine.
This show was simply amazing. I must add the beautiful tight version of Miracle Drug, the amazing playing of Sometimes, and the quiet beauty of First Time and Stuck. City/Vertigo/B. Day/... all great!!!!!!!!!
