This was my 4th Elevation show and I'm just back from U2 rocking my home town tonight. This was the first show in Manchester for nearly 10 years and the lads played to a rapturous reception from the Mancunian crowd. No real surprises on the set list apart from Discotheque/Staring at the Sun. Kite and Walk On have developed massively as part of the live set and are my personal favourites every night, although SBS, I will follow and Streets are the ones that always get EVERYONE dancing. Bono sang Happy Birthday to Edge and the crowd joined in. He had a lot to say in between songs about the first time they came to Manchester and visited Strawberry Studios and were mesmerised by seminal Manchester band Joy Division. Bono sang snippets of Love will tear us apart at the end of With or Without You. The Fly was amazing tonight as well. Hope to see Out of Control and The Sweetest Thing tomorrow night. The band seemed relaxed and enjoying themselves. Although the concert was sold out, there didn't seem to be many people outside without tickets and consequently you could find tickets for face value or EVEN LESS!!! Quite unlike our experiences in Austria and Belgium where all tickets outside the venues were twice the price. Sorry, if you stayed at home but you could have come down and got in for face value no problem. Thanks U2 for another great night, I'd rate this concert as just behind the second night in Vienna. See you all tomorrow night.
