Pinch me, I must be dreaming.
Seeing U2 back indoors and in my home town after so many years is just too much to take in.
Thought the opening when the band took the stage to Elevation (Influx Mix) with all of the house lights on was original and effective and of course they kicked off by going straight into Elevation. Things really took off for me on Until The End Of The World when Bono and The Edge took to the heart shaped walkway for the songs chaotic climax. Brilliant.
Highlights for me were Sunday Bloody Sunday, Streets, Kite and I Will Follow which all really got the crowd going nuts and my personal favourite With or Without You which included Love Will Tear Us Apart especially for Joy Division. Would love to hear Wild Honey, New Years Day, Party Girl, ISHFWILF and All I Want Is You tomorrow night. Here's hoping.
The band really looked as if they were having a great time playing and looked really relaxed which showed in their performance. It was great when they all came down one by one to the tip of the heart for Desire and then Bono and The Edge remained their for Stay, another of my favourites and one of their most underated songs.
The only downer was when, before Kite, Bono told us about his father saying that he was dying and only had a few days left on this earth. I've been through it too Bono and it's not nice but there is a better place, have faith. It must have took guts to tell everyone about it. Good luck mate.
Here's hoping that tomorrow's show is just as good as this one but with a few set changes. Can't wait.
