I saw U2 for the first time friday november 4th at the MGM Grand in Vegas. I have been a fan of their music for years and had been really excited to finally see them. We purchased tickets behind the "open" stage and were let down by the whole experience. Both Bono and The Edge strolled around the back of the stage each for about 15 seconds. I saw Larry and Adams faces only when they walked off stage. When you have tickets behind the stage I guess you must accept watching the backs of their heads all night but what I cant accept is the poor sound quality. This was due to the fact that there were no "mains" facing the 2 or 3 thousand of us behind the stage. No speakers. You know, the rows and rows of speakers that hang from the rigging over the stage? The result, a sound so atrocious my girlfriend leaned over to ask me "why it sounded so bad." I am a profesional musician who has played in a number of bands and has experience with live sound. I left the arena stunned. I have been going to arena shows for a long time and this was by far the poorest sounding. I suggest to anyone with seats behind the stage to sell them and get your money back.
