I give to props to U2's Vertigo Tour. It is their most thought-provoking and consistent show they've ever put on. Tonight's show can be seen as one of the worst or one of the best of the tour. Some people like the changed setlist they did and all the guest singers, dancers, etc. Some people don't. I'm with the latter.
Tonight's show was one of the worst shows of the Vertigo Tour. Of the 19 shows I have seen so far, this one ranks as the most rank. I think dancing fans, playing fans, little kids, and guest singers all take away from the overall momentum of a U2 show. Sure, I'd LOVE to be up there playing In A Little While or Angel Of Harlem with the band - for my own personal gain. But, like most people who do, probably could care less on how it affects the show and its entertainment value.
Tonight's show was bad because Bono brought up a kid - boring. Brought up a dancing female fan - even worse. Sang with Mary J. Blige - which is terrible, because her over-the-top vocalizing ruins the restrained transcendence that is the song One. And brought on The Killers' singer for In A Little While - crappy.
I really hated this show.
