I arrived at the stadium at about 4pm, and was treated to 30 minutes of the band warming up. They were rehearsing Mofo, Discoteque, and Staring at the Sun. I would strongly recommend getting to your respective venue as early as possible for this free treat.
To me Rage Against the Machine was a waste. Enough said.
The band come out to the tune of Pop Music by M. The band came down the center of the stadium, with Bono bringing up the rear. He sauntered down the runway as only Bono can.
Once the guys got into position they tore into a rocking rendition of Mofo. Which then gave way to I Will Follow. Looking at the set lists for Vegas and San Diego I would say that the Denver list was identical. This is to be expected given the elaborate setup of video images projected on the massive LED screen.
All in all while the show was going on I was riveted to the band. It was awesome when they came to the secondary stage, even though they only played three songs there. Of which was Discotheque. The drum riff in the live rendition of the song is much more powerful. I preferred it to the CD version.
The show was wrapped up with the soulful One.
Overall the show was good, it would have been great had they added either Sunday Bloody Sunday, or New Years Day. I feel that these songs helped U2 become what they are today more than any other of their older songs.
It was also interesting that they didn't touch a song from Zooropa. Adding Lemon or Numb would have rounded out the concert nicely.
All in all a good time was had by all.
PS It was interesting that there were quite a few empty seats. I don't know if this indicates that the venue was just too large, or that the seat prices were too expensive.
PPS: A nice thing that was done, not sure by whom, was the repositioning of some seats. Our seats were way to one side of the stage, however 11 rows back. We were moved to the 26th row, in the center section.
