Sitting here in the office, half asleep, after a fantastic weekend of U
Friday after work (in Brussels) we left to Calais. Took the boat to Dover and drove on to Reading. Had a good night sleep. Continued the next day to Cardiff.
Spend the day there sightseeing. It seemed that the city was taken over by U2 fans. That seems to be the case wherever they perform.
Went to the stadium around 6 pm. We were on the right side of the stage, just outside the red zone. So a fantastic view. I didn't have such agreat place at a U2 concert since Zooropa.
The concert was great. So was the atmosphere. The band seemed in a very good mood. Enjoying themseleves. Saw all of the band up close a couple of times when the used the outer ring on our side. Loved the set list, it was a party from the beginning until the end. Especially loved Bad. That's one of my favourite songs.
MLK was dedicated to a personal friend of theirs, fighting for her life. Hope she will pull through. I was in Dublin too, and I thought that was a great show. But OMG, this was so much better.
After the show, went to the car and tried for hours to find a bed to sleep. Even over 100 m outside of Cardiff, all motels were taken by U2 fans. We ended up sleeping in the car.
Drove on the next day, but it being so nice weather, we decided not to take the boat yet. So we went from U2 to the zoo. We ended up in a smaal village with a wildlife park, about 15 m outside Dover. We had a fantastic time.
At 16.45pm we took the boat back to France. After a break at the Belgian seaside, we drove home. We were finally home after midnight.
On of the greatest U2 experiences so far.
