Well I managed to get a ticket for the Cardiff show for what would be my first U2 concert outside of England.
The venue was superb, with the roof on it was big (very big) indoor arena. The crowd were up for it too which made it special too. My only gripe was the farce trying to get merchandise inside the stadium. A tip for the future might be to have more sales stands and sell programmes at a different location!!
Still, moan over I made it back from the que to see The Killers who were very good indeed. Having "Hot Fuss" for a while I was looking forward to seeing them as well and they didn't disappoint.
Onto the main event. U2 were excellent. They always are but maybe I'm baised. Highlights for me were "All I want is You", "I Still haven't found..." and "I will follow". 23 years on from the first time I saw them (B'ham Odeon for £4!!)they still move the audience and whip them up into a frenzy. It must be very humbling to have 60,000 people sing your songs back to you.
The set was exactly what I wanted to hear to, which was great. "Who's gonna ride..." would have been nice too but you can't be greedy I suppose.
I finally get the real sentiment behind "Sometimes you can't make it.." as well. I lost my dad 5 years ago so it meant more and I know where Bono is coming from.
For the band that are still the best live act around - thanks for great night.
