I now feel quite privaleged (along with 80,000 others that day) to have seen U2 early on in what has proven to be a long career. The rain, which had fallen all day, amazingly stopped before U2 came on stage to do their set and is it began to get dark so U2 got into their stride. The sound was superb and the atmosphere electric as the band worked through their set.
As Bono states at the start of the show, ''Some songs we might never play again, we play for you tonight'', this may well have been the last opportunity to hear some songs live, as U2 continued to expand their repertoire and could no longer fit some of their older stuff into their shows.
This was an excellent show and as we left the bowl U2 treated us to a grand display of fireworks.
What a day and what a band. Spear of Destiny weren't bad either - and where are they now?
