Despite the pouring rain it was totally worth it to see my first U2 concert. I remember waiting patiently for the first band and then they played a Simple Minds song(either Alive & Kicking or Don't You Forget About Me) and the crowd really started to get into it. Spear of Destiny were really good so was Billy Bragg despite getting hit by the odd beer cup. REM did not get a very good response but I do not think too many Brits had heard of them at that time.
I fought my way to the front for the Ramones and it was pretty crazy up there.
I remember U2 coming on stage and Bono was absoloutly mesmerising. The show they put on was incredible.
I cannot wait to see them again 20 years later in Madison Square Gardens, New York City on October 8th.
