Hi Everyone,
I just want to start off by saying that I have seen U2 almost 10 times and this was by far the best show I have ever seen them play. Hands down. I have seen some great performers and shows in my day i.e Springsteen etc.., but these guys are beyond comparison as performers and showmen. Yes, this show was very, very loud. The audience was insane and the band definately fed off of the energy.
But...here we go... my wife and I really felt there was an underlying theme to the whole night and it was Adam. I am not trying to insinuate anything here, but we both felt that something was going on between the band and Adam. Cases in points... 1) Bono cups Adam's head in his hands and sings a part of verse dealing with friendship directly to him. 2) While introducing "Kite" Bono mentions that the song is about saying goodbye whether it be wives, kids or old manager's (everyone knows that Adam was the first manager of the band). 3) During "With or Without You" Bono strolls over to Adam near the end of the song and while passing him gives Adam a quick squeeze on the shoulder at the exact moment he sings "without you". By the way, I was in Golden Circle on Adam's side using very powerful binoculars and saw this very close-up. I don't know if what I saw is true, but my wife and I both had the same feeling at the end of the show. Did anyone else see this or are we crazy? I first saw the band when I was 17 in 1980 and one of the facets I love about them is theri personal relationship with each other. So maybe I am looking to much into this...?!?
