First I have to say that I missed meeting Bono and The Edge by about 30 seconds in the afternoon. I was going down St. Antoine Street and I saw some girl crying, another one saying that she touched him. I said to myself I hope it’s not what I think it is. I asked someone and she told me that Bono and The Edge were just there signing autographs and shaking hands with everybody. 30 seconds earlier and I would have met them. It ruined my day… until the show started.
Best show ever! They’ve got the job, even though they never lost it in my heart.
The crowd was standing even before the band came on stage. My body was shaking all over as soon as I saw them and the shaking lasted for the first two songs. The biggest moments of the night were during Sunday Bloody Sunday and it was even more powerful during Streets. It’s always so overwhelming to see this huge crowd cheering when the lights come on at the beginning of the song. The lighting was so beautiful during With or Without you, it brought tears to my eyes. They sang Out of Control and I don’t know what happened but at one point near the end of the song Bono looked at Larry and they both started laughing. They also sang Sweetest Thing and Bono had a mic problem, it was falling down very slowly but since he was playing the piano he couldn’t put it back in place. He was singing : “I’m loosing you” and he was smiling while looking at the mic. A technician came to rearrange everything and Bono just kept on smiling. Very nice.
Bono said that every night they measure the intensity of the crowd with an instrument and since the beginning of the tour we were the loudest!!! I know that he probably says that at every venue but you have to admit the man sure knows how to make a crowd go wild. After he said that, we just went completely crazy and he looked at The Edge and he just said WOW. (Maybe it’s true, because we were so loud and a newspaper article reports the same thing.)
The one sad thing about it all is that we wait so long for THAT special night and now the concert is finished and all I am left with is my memories. But they are beautiful and unforgettable memories.
Can't wait for next time!
