I first listened to U2 when I was 8. The last time I saw them live was during the Vertigo Tour in 2006, at the time I had a vague feeling that this show signified the end of my youth, I had just turned 30.
In 2010 they came back and so did I, with one child at home and another on the way, No drinking beforehand, no drinking after, but more tears and understanding that perhaps ever before.
Because U2 have been the soundtrack to my life, i have felt (perhaps twisted) their songs and how they resonated with my own experiences.
So in 2010, when I sing less and worry more, I let go, to the music, to the passion, to the love, and to the tears that have helped me become a man and a father.
In Auckland we sing - go strong my friends
